Power Up Your Summer With PLAY!
To beat the so-called "Summer Slump" in physical activity and healthy eating, the Network for a Healthy California—Children’s Power Play! Campaign is launching a new Power Up Your Summer! Challenge.
Summer is here and it’s time to get your PLAY! on. You should get at least 60 minutes of active PLAY! every day. You can add up the different things you do during the day. Try to be active for at least 10 minutes at a time.
One of the best ways to help kids eat healthy, be active, and have fun is to enroll them into a summer activity program.
Local youth organizations are partnering with the Network for a Healthy California—Children’s Power Play! Campaign to teach kids how to get 60 minutes of PLAY! every day and eat more fruits and vegetables for strength and energy.

Kick-off Event
The Power Up Your Summer! Kick-off Event was held on June 23rd at Alicia Park in Rohnert Park. Kids from the Boys and Girls Club and the Redwood Empire Food Bank’s summer lunch program played for 3000 minutes. Our local Champion Mom, Olga, welcomed the kids and families to the PLAY! Event and talked with parents about her tips for eating healthy and being physically active with her young daughter. Each child completed 6 physical activity stations, Zumba dancing with Tina, and learned how delicious it is to Re-Think Your Drink with watermelon infused water.
